![]() There are other singleplayer titles not mentioned here, but those are pretty old games like: Darkstar One, Tarr Chronicles, SpaceForce Rogue Universe etc. Avorion could be modded to a level, where I would say it could be a successor, but I don't know of any mod that is taking this direction (limited star systems, premade ships etc.). I don't know any multiplayer game that comes even close. It is otherwise a great game worth trying if you want some Freelancer nostalgia, but unfortunately it is singleplayer only. Not to mention that having a trillion star systems just scatter all the players you could otherwise meet in a limited game.īack to topic: Starpoint Gemini 3 just copied everything, even the trade lanes, but for some reason they decided that warp waypoints would be better, so instead of traveling at a higher speed you get a loading screen and arrive instantly. The ships wouldn't even see or hear each other, manual aiming doesn't make much sense either and regarding the distances you wouldn't spend too much time in "real space-time" to enjoy the flying. But lets face it, space is the most boring thing imaginable. It rebalances a lot of the original content, but the campaign still remains playable. I have played so many space games and they all try to be realistic in some aspect. This mod is an addition to vanilla Freelancer. + you have to have limited number of handcrafted systems and unrealistic distances and physics to make it enjoyable. ![]() Taking the long route around risky tradelines, or disrupting trade lane rings or warp gates is what made it so great. ![]() I agree, the trade lane network is one of the greatest feature of Freelancer, especially when we talk multiplayer. It even has voice acting (poorly made compared to the official one, but still, the devs bothered to add voice acting in a mod, so that's great) and it really keeps the Freelancer essence (and adds a little bit of difficulty))īut yeah, other than that, I have no idea of anything else that could give the same feel I wish there was one though! Like you said, there are mods (give Crossfire a try if you never played it it continues the story from the end of the official storyline, and it's really well made. I've been looking for a game like that myself for a while now, without any luck. Sure there are other similar games on different levels (Everspace which has the arcade space style, but being a roguelike, it's not really like an RPG in space, or Elite Dangerous, which got the trading side on point and all, but really more like a sim than an arcade-ish style, and so on.)īut none of those give the special feel Freelancer had. Just like you, I can't find any other game with that same feel. I even play through the story from time to time, just to live it again. This house has the lot traits of Natural Light, Home Studio, and Peace & Quiet. Any Freelancer like mods out there for 1.7. The sideyard has a fountain and an area where you could grill and entertain your guests with drinks and general conversation. The backyard has a swing set and a pond that I would have filled with Koi if only we had that in game but oh well.
